Training fellowships are a key aspect of Project Rozana’s mission to promote treatment of diseases in the Palestinian population and build its health capacity.

The Medical Fellowship Program funds young Palestinian clinicians from Palestinian hospitals, to train in Israel under highly qualified and experienced Israeli medical specialists. They learn a much needed sub-specialty and bring their skills and knowledge back to their home hospitals in the West Bank and Gaza.

Previous fellows completed their two-year residencies in Paediatric Intensive Care at Hadassah Hospital, Jerusalem, and in Anaesthesiology at Sheba Hospital in Tel Aviv.

The 2019 Fellowship was awarded to Dr Khadra Salami, senior pediatrician in hematological-oncology at Augusta Victoria Hospital, East Jerusalem. She is pictured below in front of the pediatric oncology center, and with Dr Bilal Alshawamra, Nephrologist AVH.

Due to COVID-19 and urgent re-prioritisation of medical requirements and clinical resources at Augusta Victoria Hospital, this fellowship has been put on hold.

Partnering with Physicians for Human Rights-Israel, a short Project Rozana medical fellowship program was undertaken for Gazan Doctors to undertake intensive training in Israeli hospitals.

It enabled these doctors to give advanced treatment at home, thus allowing more patients to seek health care within Gaza, strengthening a weak system by improving medical expertise in the Strip.
